BUG: Can't Open Performance Monitor Settings Files Read-Only

SYMPTOMS

You can't open a Performance Monitor settings file -- including an alert (*.pma), chart (*.pmc), log (*.pml), report (*.pmr), or workspace (*.pmw) file -- that has a read-only attribute. No error message is returned.

RESOLUTION

Before attempting to open the read-only file, remove the read-only attribute.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT versions 3.5 and 3.51. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
