%OS and %OS_VERSION Reported Incorrectly

SYMPTOMS

If you use the %OS or %OS_VERSION variables in the Novell logon script, Novell NetWare reports the Windows NT operating system as MS-DOS version 5.0 during logon script processing.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
