Unable to Sign Out from Mail After File Send in Word

Last reviewed: February 5, 1998
Article ID: Q109871
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

You will not be able to sign out of a mail session using another MAPI application (such as MS Mail or Schedule+) if you have used any of the mail forwarding and routing features in Word 6.0 when Word is still running. You will receive the following error message:

Another application has denied your request

CAUSE

Once you perform a mail-related function, Word retains a handle to the open mail session. This handle is left open so that subsequent attempts to do a File Send or Mail Merge to email does not require a login every time.

RESOLUTION

Exit Word in order to sign out of the other application.
