GP Fault While Scanning with OmniPage Direct

SYMPTOMS

You receive a general protection (GP) fault in Word version 6.0 for Windows while scanning into a Word document using OmniPage or OmniPage 1.0, Direct AnyFont OCR for Logitech 1.0(DFL).

CAUSE

Word 6.0 is not registered with DFL.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem:

  1. Remark out the following Word 2.0 for Windows lines (if found) in the SETTING.INI file. The SETTING.INI file is found in the \DIRECT (or \OMNIPAGE in version 1.0) subdirectory.

          OpusApp=1,1,1,2229(for 2.0)
          OpusApp=1,1,1,2266(for 2.0b)
          OpusApp=1,1,1,2266
    

  2. Add the following line to the SETTING.INI file:

          OpusApp=1,1,1,108
    

-or-

  1. Use the following procedure to register the new version of Word with DFL (instructions are also in the DFL manual):

    a. Run Direct and minimize.

    b. Run Word and minimize.

    c. Select the Direct icon by clicking once, and you will have an option

          to register.
    

    d. Select Register, Word Processor, and Register again.

    e. Your cursor will turn into a dough-nut shape, click this on the

          minimized Word 6.0 icon.
    

    f. Close Direct and restart.
