To determine if the footer is linked to the previous section in your document, change the ViewHeader statement to ViewFooter in the following sample macro:

   Sub MAIN
      ViewHeader
      X = CommandValid("FormatHeaderFooterLink")
      If x = 0 Then MsgBox "Header is linked"
   End Sub

The following sample macro determines if the header is linked to the previous section, and if the header is not linked, the macro establishes a link to the header in the previous section:

   Sub MAIN
      ViewHeader
      X = CommandValid("FormatHeaderFooterLink")
      If x = - 1 Then
         ToggleHeaderFooterLink
         CloseViewHeaderFooter
      End If
   End Sub

The CommandValid(CommandName$) function returns -1 if CommandName$ is available in the current context; it returns 0 (zero) if the command is not available.
