  • The following error is generated when you try to insert the object by choosing the Create From File tab (to locate this tab, choose Object from the Insert menu):

The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Make
sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not been
          deleted, moved, or renamed.

Word cannot obtain the data for the Microsoft Excel Worksheet Link.

CAUSE

The Microsoft Excel worksheet object is too wide or too long to fit on the page.

WORKAROUNDS

Method 1: Insert the object as an icon. When you insert an existing

Microsoft Excel 4.0 worksheet object, this option is available on
the Create From File tab. It is also available when you choose
Paste Special from the Edit menu, select Paste or Paste Link, and
choose Excel 4.0 Worksheet Object or one of the other options.

Method 2: Reduce the size of the object to a single page before inserting
          it into your Word document.
