Single Mouse Click on Ruler Doesn't Set or Remove Tab

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

If the Borders toolbar is active, single-clicking the ruler does not add or remove tab stops while in Normal View. You must click a second time to successfully add or remove the tab stop.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUNDS

Method 1: Switch to page layout view before setting the tabs.

Method 2: Turn off the Borders toolbar.
