SGML: No Macros or Toolbars After Installation

• Microsoft SGML Author for Word, version 1.0
• Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

SGML toolbars and macros are not loaded, and Word does not prompt you to load the .INI file.

CAUSE

The File Location for Templates setting has been modified to point to a subdirectory other than the WinWord\TEMPLATE subdirectory (where WinWord is the location of your Word for Windows program directory, usually C:\WINWORD). SGML Author Setup does not look at the File Location setting to determine where to install the templates; it always installs the templates to the WinWord\TEMPLATE subdirectory.

WORKAROUND

Move the templates to the subdirectory specified on the File Locations tab. To locate the File Locations tab, choose Options from the Tools menu.
