The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word, versions 1.0, 1.0z
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

You cannot connect to http://www.compuserve.com when you use Internet Assistant, version 1.0. By contrast, you can connect to other URLs. This behavior occurs with Windows 95 only.

This problem occurs when you use CompuServe's Net Launcher to connect to the www.compuserve.com URL. This problem does not occur when you use other dial-up Internet services.

STATUS

We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Use another dial-up service, such as Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking.
