SYMPTOMS

In Word 7.x, the FileFind WordBasic command opens the Open dialog box, but it does not display the Advanced Find dialog box.

CAUSE

The FileFind command has limited functionality in Word versions 7.x and later. The Find File dialog box used in earlier versions of Word has been replaced by the Advanced Find feature in Word versions 7.x and later.

RESOLUTION

To use the Advanced Find feature of Word 7.x, click Open on the File menu and then click the Advanced button.

For more information on the FileFind command, click Microsoft Word Help Topics on the Help menu, click the Index tab, type "FileFind" (without the quotation marks), select the "FileFind Statement" topic, and then click the Display button.
