WD97: Table Column Selection May Show Incorrect With Merged Cell

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Select Column command on the Table menu to format the cells in a table that contains merged cells, cells in the range may be incorrectly selected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

When you format a table with merged table cells, do not use the Select Column command from the Table menu. Instead, select the individual cell(s) that you want to change and apply the changes.
