WD97: Comment Inserted at Unexpected Location

SYMPTOMS

You experience one of the following symptoms:

Case 1

When you attempt to insert a comment at the beginning of a paragraph, the comment is inserted after the first word of the paragraph.

Case 2

When you attempt to insert a comment at the beginning of a sentence within a paragraph, the comment is inserted after the first word of the sentence.

Case 3

When you attempt to insert a comment on a blank line,

• the comment is inserted after the first word of the following sentence or paragraph.
• the comment is inserted at the end of the preceding paragraph that contains text.

WORKAROUND

Place the insertion point within or at the end of a paragraph that contains text, and then insert the comment.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
