Last reviewed: July 31, 1997
Article ID: Q168350
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 97 for Windows on the following platform: Alpha

SYMPTOMS

If you insert a DRW, CGM, or DXF graphic into a Microsoft Word 97 document running on the Alpha platform, the graphic may be inserted as a blank bounding box (an empty frame) or it may not be inserted at all.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

When you insert a Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) graphic, the graphic will fail to preview, and when inserted, will be a blank bounding box.

When you insert a Micrografx Designer Draw or Windows Draw (DRW) graphic, only part of the graphic may be inserted or when inserted, will be a blank bounding box.

When you insert a AutoCAD Format 2-D (DXF) graphic, the graphic will act as if it will be inserted, but nothing is inserted into the document.
