WD97: IExplore Back Button Ignored after Hyperlink from Word

SYMPTOMS

When you click a hyperlink in Microsoft Word to open the link in Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then click the Back button to switch back to Word, nothing happens and Microsoft Internet Explorer remains active.

CAUSE

This is a timing issue: this problem occurs when you launch Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.x from Word, and Microsoft Internet Explorer finishes launching before Word can establish a connection to it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
