Last reviewed: November 17, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

If you have selected Capitalize Names Of Days as an AutoCorrect option and you type in the name of a day (with the first letter capitalized) into a text form field of a protected document and then enter a space immediately after (before you go to the next field), the first letter of the day will be changed to lowercase. Further, if you enter the name of the day with a lowercase first letter, that letter will not be capitalized.

WORKAROUND

This problem will not occur if you turn off Capitalize Names Of Day in AutoCorrect before you protect and use the form. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect.

  2. Click to clear the Capitalize Names of Days check box.

  3. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word, 6.x for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 7.0 for Windows 95.
