WD: Spell Checker Ignores Words in Uppercase Letters

SYMPTOMS

Word does not flag misspelled words that are typed in capital letters. This includes words that are formatted as small capital letters.

CAUSE

The Ignore Words In Uppercase option is selected.

RESOLUTION

Disable the Ignore Words In Uppercase option.

Word 97 and Word 98 Macintosh Edition

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options (Windows) or Preferences (Macintosh).

  2. Select the Spelling And Grammar tab.

  3. Clear the Ignore Words In Uppercase check box.

  4. Click OK.

Word 6.x, 7.x

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. Select the Spelling tab.

  3. Clear the Words In Uppercase check box.

  4. Click OK.

Word 5.x

  1. On the Tools menu, click Preferences.

  2. In the left side of the dialog box, select the Spelling option.

  3. Clear the Words In UPPERCASE check box.

  4. Click OK.
