Deleting a Bookmark in Word for Windows

Bookmarks in Microsoft Word for Windows do not have a physical appearance in document files. To delete a bookmark from a Word for Windows document, follow these steps:

  1. From the Insert menu, choose Bookmark. (2.x) or if you are using version 6.0, choose Bookmark from the Edit menu.

  2. In the resulting dialog box, select the bookmark you want to delete.

  3. Choose the Delete button, or press ALT+D.

Bookmarks are also deleted if you delete the text or character that the bookmark was attached to from the document.
