Table 24.2 summarizes the tools provided with Windows NT (in addition to Registry Editor and Windows NT Diagnostics) that you can use to administer the Registry.

Backs up Registry hives as part of a tape backup routine.

Emergency Repair Disk

Restores hives to the system.

Repair Disk Utility (Rdisk.exe)

Updates the Emergency Repair Disk with a current backup of Registry hives.

Windows NT Explorer

Applies access controls to Registry Editor and hive files on NTFS partitions.
