Components of a WCAT Test

WCAT tests monitor the response of an Internet or intranet server to the demands of its clients in a controlled experimental setting. WCAT tests simulate the activity of a Internet Information Server and its many client Web browsers communicating across one or more networks.

A WCAT test includes four primary components: a server, a client, a controller, and the network. During a WCAT test, each of these components runs a different WCAT program. This section describes these components and the programs they run.

Figure 1 shows the components of a single-network WCAT test.
