Open Database Command (VisData File Menu)

Opens a database of the selected type.

In most cases, you should create an .mdb file and attach tables from other data source types. However, it is necessary and useful to open a database directly to perform DDL (Data Definition Language) operations and to experiment with performance.

If you choose ODBC, a dialog box is displayed that lists the parameters needed to open an ODBC data source. If the source you select does not exist, it can be created from this dialog using the Register command.
