In a
Document Management System the most important entity Entity is the Document
because every thing in the sSystem revolves around
the Document only. Document consists of one or more related pages. Document can
be classified as Image Documents and Non Image Documents. Image Documents are
generally scanned paper Documents or Imported Documents e.g.xample, BMP, JPG, Tiff,
GIF, TIF etc. Non Image Documents are generally word-processed Documents,
presentations, spreadsheets etc. generated through various applications. Non
Image Documents are generally in Word, XLS, PPT, and DOC Format. Also every
Document has an Access Type, which that specifies the type of control that will
be given on this Document to other userUsers in the systemSystem. Some of the
values that Access Type can have are Shared, Private, Inherited. Similar to
the manner in which userUser can mark the physical paper for some
important information or make a note on a sheet, a facility is supported in OmniDocs
Engine, for adding Annotations to the Document. OmniDocs also provides the
facility for storing and retrieval of thumbnail Thumbnail data for
Documents. It also provides the facility for associating keywordKeywords with Document
on which they can be searched. Following functions are exposed for Document
operations.
