<Type> is not a valid mask

This error has the following cause and solution:

• You specified an invalid mask in the File Types tab in the Options dialog box on the Tools menu.

  You must specify a * or ? character in your file mask, and you cannot have any illegal characters such as (, ), [, or ] in the mask.

  Retype the file mask using legal characters.
