<Project or File> will create too long a file or project name

This warning has the following cause and solution:

• VSS has a restriction of 259 characters for full project path names and 255 characters for files.  Either a project you're trying to create or a file you're attempting to add is greater than this length; it exceeds the restriction.

  Use a shorter file name or rename a parent project to a shorter name.
