The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is the Internet standard protocol for exchanging management information between management consoles that use tools such as HP Openview, Novell NMS, IBM NetView, or Sun Net Manager, and managed entities. The managed entities can include hosts, routers, bridges, and hubs.
