Principles of Configuring the BSC Devices (BM/TC Separated)

This describes the principles of configuring the BSC cabinets, subracks, and boards with the BM/TC separated.

Cabinet

The principles of configuring the BSC cabinets are as follows:

Subrack

The principles of configuring BSC subracks are as follows:

Board

The principles of configuring the BSC boards are as follows:

If the BSC is configured with the GBAM, the GGCU, GSCU, and GTNU are configured by default. If the BSC is configured with the GOMU, the GGCU, GSCU, GTNU, and GOMU are configured by default. Table 1 lists the principles of configuring the boards except for those configured by default.

Board

Configuration Principle

GDPUC

  • The GDPUC is configured in the GTCS. The number of GDPUCs to be configured depends on the system specifications.
  • The GDPUC supports only the independent mode.

GDPUX

  • The GDPUX is configured in the GMPS/GEPS/GTCS. The number of GDPUXs to be configured depends on the system specifications.
  • The GDPUX supports the resource pool mode.

GEIUA/GOIUA

  • The GEIUA and GOIUA are configured in the GTCS. The numbers of boards to be configured depend on the system specifications.
  • The GEIUA and GOIUA support the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.
  • The GEIUA and the GOIUA can be configured in one subrack if required.

GEIUB/GOIUB/GFGUB/GOGUB/GEHUB

  • The GEIUB/GOIUB/GFGUB/GOGUB/GEHUB is configured in the GMPS or the GEPS. The number of boards to be configured depends on the system specifications.
  • The GEIUB/GOIUB/GFGUB/GOGUB/GEHUB supports the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.
  • The GEIUB and GOIUB can be configured in one subrack if required.
  • When the BSC communicates with the BTS in TDM transmission mode, the GEIUB and the GOIUB are configured. When the BSC communicates with the BTS in HDLC/HUB transmission mode, the GEHUB is configured. When the BSC communicates with the BTS in IP transmission mode, the GFGUB and the GOGUB are configured.

GEIUP/GOIUP

  • The GEIUP/GOIUP is configured when the BSC is configured with the external PCU.
  • The GEIUP and GOIUP are configured in the GTCS. The numbers of boards to be configured depend on the system specifications.
  • The GEIUP/GOIUP supports the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.
  • The GEIUP and the GOIUP can be configured in one subrack if required.

GEIUT/GOIUT

  • The GEIUT and GOIUT are configured in the GMPS, GEPS, or the GTCS. The numbers of boards to be configured depend on the system specifications.
  • The GEIUT and GOIUT support the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.
  • The GEIUT and the GOIUT can be configured in one subrack if required.

GEPUG/GFGUG

  • When the BSC is configured with the built-in PCU, the GFGUG/GEPUG is configured in the GMPS or the GEPS.
  • When the Gb over FR transmission mode is applied, configure the GEPUG. When the Gb over IP transmission mode is applied, configure the GFGUG.
  • The GFGUG and GEPUG support the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.

GDPUP

  • When the BSC is configured with the built-in PCU, the GDPUP is configured in slots 8 through 10 housing the GMPS/GEPS.
  • The GDPUP supports the resource pool mode.

GXPUM

  • The GXPUM is configured in the GMPS or the GEPS. The number of GXPUMs to be configured depends on the system specifications.
  • The GXPUM supports the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.

GXPUT

  • The GXPUT is configured in the GMPS or the GEPS. The number of GXPUTs to be configured depends on the system specifications.
  • The GXPUT supports the independent mode and the active/standby mode. The active/standby mode is recommended.
NOTE:

On the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal, the types of boards that can be configured depend on the type of the subrack that holds the boards and the serial numbers of slots in the subrack. Table 1 provides the recommended configurations of the boards. You can modify the configurations according to actual requirements.
