Package Definition File Format

A Package Definition File (PDF) is an ASCII text file that contains predefined Workstation, Sharing, and Inventory property settings for a package. When you create a new package, you can use the Import command from the Package Properties dialog box to define the properties for the package, using a PDF.

A PDF follows the standard initialization file format. It is an ASCII text file containing keys (the key names are enclosed within square brackets). Key names can be separated by spaces. Each key contains one or more entries, where each entry follows the format: name = value1, value2, …. Values are separated by a comma and at least one space. The keys and entries are used by the system to set the properties of a package.

PDF files for applications that run on localized versions of SMS must be in the appropriate format: ANSI format for European languages; DBCS format for Far East languages. Additionally, some file entries must be localized. See the descriptions below for details.
