Earth Smart Settings

Earth Smart Settings help you to reduce environmental pollution by using less toner or ink, and paper.

Notes:

• Some features are only supported by specific printers, operating systems, or driver types. You may see more features or options listed than what your printer supports.
• Changing Earth Smart Settings within a software application changes the settings only for the print job. Changing the Earth Smart Settings within the driver changes the default settings for all applications.

To reach a list of Earth Smart selections for print jobs, click the green Earth Smart Settings button at the bottom of the print driver. Select the following:

• 2-Sided Print: Prints images on both sides of the paper. Prints the images so the job can be bound on the long edge of the sheet.
• Turn off Banner Pages by Default: Turns off the banner page setting. A banner page separates each completed print job in the output bins. It includes the user name, date, time, and the document name. After you select this option, a dialog box appears. To keep your print job separate from other print jobs, select to include a Job ID in the margins of the print job.
• 2-Up: Prints two images on each side of the paper. After you select this option, a dialog box appears. Select Enable "Smart" 2-Up to correct the following:
• 1-page print jobs: Prints one full-sized page on the paper.
• 1-sided print jobs that are 2 pages or more: Prints two reduced-size pages on one side of the paper.
• 2-sided print jobs that are 2 pages: Prints a full-sized page 1 on one side of the paper, and prints a full-sized page 2 on the other side of the paper.
• 2-sided print jobs that are 2 pages or more: Prints two reduced-size pages on each side of the paper.
• Sample Set: Prints one copy of a print job without holding additional copies at the printer. After you select this option, a dialog box appears. Select Enable "Smart" Sample Set to keep an unnecessary sample from printing, including one-copy print jobs.
• Draft Mode: Saves toner or ink by printing in draft mode, producing lower-quality images.
• Hide Earth Smart Button: Deactivates the green Earth Smart Settings button.
• You have saved as much as: Shows the amount of paper you saved by using Earth Smart Settings.
